Berlin Fashion Week Review – Lena Hoschek & Schumacher
26. January 2010 Calls & Events, Designers & Labels
Lena Hoschek brought the Pin-up Librarian Style to Berlins Mercedes-Benz Runway. 50`s femininity met British dandy look with smiling models and curvy bodies. Trained by Vivienne Westwood, the Granz-based Designer mixed some uniformesque and folkloresque details into the Retro-inspired pieces.
Staying close to the sympathetic rockabilly couture theme might be her recipe to niche a market that still offers an international clientele.
But personally, I ask myself how it would look, when Lena Hoschek would couragely push and mix the 50`s style into the next level – an innovative Lena Hoschek level, which could probably lead her to the international runways – instead of remaining in the warm and cosy retro-drawer.

Before the Berlin Fashion Week, Kurier published an interview with the Austrian designer. Austrianfashionnet was backstage and Stil in Berlin was on the street. Tessa wrote a fantastic review in German and The Fashionista`s Blackbook presents more pictures of the show.

Schumacher opened Mercedes-Benz Fashionweek with a native elegance that balanced the tough and feminine sides of a concerted womenswear collection. According to the claim that Schumacher provides pieces that have the potential to make the grade on every occasion, Dorothee Schumacher put velvet, fur and leather in the star role of her wearable collection.

Colorful accentuations came in green, yellow and purple while the runway finish was brought by obtrusive neckpieces and shiny applications on stockings.
Jana took a closer view on the Schumacher leggear, while Jerome went backstage. On allet-ohne schminke you find a show review in German and here, in english.
