Lala Berlin Winter 09 – Knits and tits at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin
30. January 2009 Designers & Labels

After coming up with a beautiful, but politically questionable cooperation-collection with French collective Andrea Crews, Leyla Piedayesh chose to quote the Rodarte-knits and the Arielle de Pinto jewelry on the runway show from Lala Berlin at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin…

But besides the holey knits and knitted jewels, Lala Berlin presented us the classical trouser-suits, the obligatory jumpsuits and leather dresses, sexy mini´s and high-feminine robes as well as kitted sweaters & cardigans, flowing tops and tight pants.
Berlin-based designer Leyla Piedayesh kept the color palette quite simple, focussing on red, black and shades of grey and did a great job with mixing materials such as knitted wool, transparent chiffon, maskuline leather and tender silk.
Unfortunately, the bad fit of some pieces became a miserable eycatcher. Breats popped out of the tops and even my favorite piece – a patchwork leather dress – became a farce when watched from behind.

Maybe, a little bit more love for the detail during the model fitting and maybe some tape would have helped to focus the audience views on the nice knits and high-feminine designs instead ofbeing directly pointed to the few weak points of the collection.
