Lauren Porter´s knitted Ferrari
11. December 2008 Art & Fashion

If you thought, the knitted motorcicle was carrying knitwear to extremes, you haven´t seen Lauren Porter´s knitted Ferrari.
“I created a Ferrari because it is instantly recognisable and the opposite of what people expect from something that is knitted. Bringing Binary opposites together results in the work becoming appealing to a mixture of audiences.” (Source) – read more after the jump
“The red bodywork consists of 250 squares of garter stitch made by Lauren and 20 family members and friends. The windows are V-shaped stocking stitch, while the details are crochet and the badge is embroidered. It’s all supported by a steel frame which Lauren, 22, of Greatham, Hants, welded herself.” (Source)
Seems like, getting your own Ferrari is not about savin money anymore – it´s about getting your posse together and do the knit.
Don´t forget to check out Lauren Porter´s website and watch the little movie about the artist. There´s some more great knit-stuff to see.
