Dear Maria Francesca Pepe, today it is the forth time, i talk about your work. Two years ago, it was “Paradoxa”, your first collection that caught my eye and made me immediately fall in love with your ability to transform unusual shapes and heavy-weighting volumes into wearable jewelry. Then there was “Mucha”, modeled by Alice Dellal. You experimented with materials such as calf, iguana, caiman and sheep skin and oversized shapes that were supplemented by some more filigree details and pieces. This was pretty refreshing. And then, it happend, that you started to mix fashion design and jewelry making in “Art Brut”. This was the point were i got lost.
Like i already wrote, wether it were the shots, or the fashion – i didn`t get the uniquesness of your collection. But thankfully, this changed with your fantastic “Les fabulous C” collection. Back on the track i just praised – the fashion and the jewels, the way how you brought them together and my joy to be able again to dream about wearing Maria Francesca Pepe. Curiously and full of expectations, i landed on your website again to find “Bathing Beauties”. A collection of dresses, jewelry and shoes for summer 2010.
While watching your fashion film, i dreamt away to old Hollywood, became a diva, standing on a pool. In one of my bejewelled hands a cigarette, in the other a glass of champaign. Hair well done, head held high and warm summer breeze caressing my soft flowing silk dress. BUT THEN – SHOCK. (more…)

If it`s today or tomorrow, next week or last month, Pieter is my daily requirement and one of my favorite fashion bloggers although he probably might consider this as insult
because he`s definitely not a fashion geek, but a design-art-culture-technology one, who often flicks a fashion segment i am interested in. This time, he was the early bird with the new Bless glasses which happily lost their toooftenseeneverywherearefringes-look. For summer 2010, the fabulous Bless-woman offer this photoprinted-perforated shit and i go for it. More here: Bless No. 39 “Heart Ringers”

Not long ago, Minna Parikka came up with her extraordinary masks, made out of shoes, now, Shin Murayama`s “Valhalla” mask series is presented at I don`t like Mondays and gives us a smart impression on what recycling art can be. In a short Q&A, the artist himself explains his intention and idea behind every piece. Let him speak:
Shoeface mask: “Will the culture of mass production be over soon? I think this consumer era is bound to end shortly. At the same time as I think this though, I am making more of the same. Is this ironic? A contradiction? Some of my work just adds to the amount of things being introduced into this overstuffed society. I’m using a sneaker as a cultural symbol in this sense.”
Sockeater mask: “Nature is not just around us — it extends into our own bodies, doesn’t it? I find it fascinating to work not only with my thoughts but also with my body. The mask I wear in the portrait also comes from this perspective.” (more…)

Knit, design, art and now even unconventional jewelry – Marie-Louise Vogt is a pre-thinker when it comes to knits and crafts. In the context of Berlin Fashion Week, the Hamburg-based designer presented a pre-selection of her SS10 collection “Hey Gorgeous” and now, here is the brandnew lookbook photographed by Martin Thaker. It makes me want to have it all.
