Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal Collection 2010

29. January 2010 Art & Fashion, Designers & Labels Judith

Maison-Martin-Margiela_Haute-Couture_Artisanal_2010_rMaison-Martin-Margiela_Haute-Couture_Artisanal_2010_Maison-Martin-Margiela_Haute-Couture_Artisanal_2010_NlDIY is going couture. While the former Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal collections have been rather superior DIY with shredded paper experiments and balloon fantasies, this time,  the Paris-based fashion forward house is coming up with some serious ready for runway fashion art. And although i truly liked the handcrafted and imperfect touch of the former Artisanal pieces, i would be a complete douchbag not admiring, adoring…praising…the this years output. But if i could state a wish….i`d gently ask to rethink the fantastic mirror top again for runway. It`s just too great to rest in the archives. (more…)

Szymon Roginski and Kasia Korzeniecka – Sculptural Photography

28. December 2009 Art & Fashion Judith

Szymon-Roginski_ania-kuczynska_ak2Szymon-Roginski_ania-kuczynska_ak3Szymon-Roginski_ania-kuczynska_ak4My blogger-christmas-winter-sleep is taking revenge now. The sculptural photographs by Szymon Roginski und Kasia Korzeniecka have already be shown at different web corners. Never mind. The creative duo photographed and re-puzzled the landscape and fashion photographs in such a fresh way that i can`t get enough. Also highly mentionalbe is a view on the “Fair Trade” series, also created by Roginski and Korzeniecka.

Fight the Dirt

14. December 2009 Art & Fashion, DIY & Customizing Judith

web_cabracega_coca-cola_biennale_make-household_not_war_750001As embarrassed I was when I realized that Coca-Cola Light did an Exhibition within the Experimenta Design Biennale`s Program, as tickled I was when I saw the hilarious household weapons. Those pieces have been created by the Cabracega Studio by re-inventing 2nd hand objects which have been collected during the Coca-Cola Light campaign.

They remind me on the glorious Umbrellas for the Civil but Discontent Man-collection and I bet, if there would be a laser-teaser included, domestic work would immediately become men`s favorite hobby. (more…)

Talent to watch – Karen Segall

22. November 2009 Art & Fashion, Designers & Labels Judith

karen-segall_2karen-segall_segall_7Well, i have to admit, at first i thought it`s just another circus-inspired fashion project that lags behind those incredible and famous ones we have seen in the past seasons. I mean, even Topshop had those Harlekinesque designs and this definitely marks the end of innovation. But, as Diane Pernet wisely statet, trends doesn´t matter, it´s way more important that somebody has something to say, Karen Segall should be one to be watched. karen-sgeall4

The Danish Design School Graduate with an MA in visual communication, goes less for Photoshop than for illustration meeting fashion and interpretes the circus theme quite darker and rougher as i´ve seen it so far in fashion. How she worked and who she is can be read in the interview Spot on Textiles published some months ago. (more…)

Interview with Diane Pernet

17. November 2009 Art & Fashion, Blogwatch, Fashion 2.0 Judith

diane-pernet_judith-marthalerIt`s, looking for someone who has something to say“.
This came promptly and condensed. Even two weeks after I interviewed Diane Pernet for Two for Fashion, the answer on what makes fashion still amazing to her after all these years in the business, sticks in my head.

I don`t want to know how many times Diane Pernet had to answer this question. But what I definitely know now is, that there`s nothing wrong with passion for fashion, a dedication for blogging and the commitment to consider fashion a meaningful part of our culture. It doesn`t mean you necessarily are a random red carpet fashion chick.

While others might go for the bling and for the glam, Diane Pernet goes for content. And this attitude, combined with a clear sense for fashion and design probably makes her one of the most influential independent fashion bloggers in the world. (Read on after jump) (more…)
