PleasurePrinciple-Womens-Looks-5PleasurePrinciple-Womens-Looks-2PleasurePrinciple-Womens-Looks-3Following Freud, our individual id´s follow the pleasure principle in seeking pleasure and avoiding pain. At least in our early lifes, when we haven´t been taught about the exigencies and obstacles of reality. Following fashion, the Pleasure Principle brings us nothing but comfort and pleasure far beyond our basic needs, with versatile garments that can be worn in multiple ways and which are restrained in construction by the parameters of the basic T-Shirt.PP-ss10-mens-looks-11PP-ss10-mens-looks-16

Founded by Adrian Cowen and Diva Pittala in 2002 with the intention to bring a conceptual artistic approach to the area of sportswear, Pleasure Principle is fashion basics at its best, combining soft bondage elements with casual, urban fashion for him and her. (See more after the jump) (more…)

Disturbances by Hamburgs Creative Class – “Not in our Name, Marke Hamburg!”

6. November 2009 Weekly Darlin Judith

recht-auf-stadt_die-stadt-gehört-allen_miguel-martinez“Cities without gays and rock bands are losing the economic development race”. US-economist Richard Florida stated, that cities only grow when a vital and active “creative class” exists and feels comfortable. If Florida is true, Hamburg is on the best way to become a dead town.
A dead town only likeable and livable for uncritical Disneylandish culture-consumers, for moneygrubbing estate-speculators and for those tasteless thinkers who consider branded-spaces sustainable, urban environment.
HAMBURG HAS A PROBLEM.  On Sounds like Me, i wrote more about this political dead-end situation and the riot of Hamburgs “creative class”. Read here and support there. Photo by Miguel. (more…)

Folks, thanks for yor patience – i am finally back from my very much needed offline vacation in Spain. Summersun and blue sky did a great job. Although, the 100% analog lifestyle  has been very hard at first, living offline became great status right after the short withdrawal.

Culturally and culinary, the trip in the land of the Katalans has been very enriching. Unfortunately, in terms of fashion, absolutely not.

Custo and Desigual still annoy on every corner on every corner of every town. And aside from an interesting small catalan swimwear label, even in Barcelona, the corporate world ruled the fashion landscape of the town.
Interesting shops with progressive, independent fashion labels were incredibly hard to find.
The day, a shop that sold only scandinavian labels became the most exciting thing i´ve seen in terms of fashion after 10 days, i decided to focus on the thing, that has me truly amazed during the trip: the Spanish food.

8. September 2009 Art & Fashion, Books & Magazines, Weekly Darlin Judith

juxtaposed-religion_mike-and-maaike_122juxtaposed-religion_mike-and-maaike_1If design could heal the world, Mike and Maaike, we already know from stolen jewels,  would be some saviours. The designer duo brought together the world´s most influential religious texts and presented them on the same level on one single bookshelf. There´s no better metaphore for acknowledging and celebrating the religious diversity we have on our planet instead of fighting others for the “wrong” set of beliefs. (more…)
