Bold colors, wild fringes and accentuated shoulders are the key-elements of Scott Ramsay Kyle´s designs. But there´s more to it than that. The fantastic uniqueness of Kyle´s creations comes with the virtuoso embroideries that are places on high-class silk-, cashmere- and woolen canvasses. The Central Saint Martin´s graduate regards himself as “Embroiderer and Designer” and is so proficient in as well the creative-inventive as the technical-sophisticated components of his job, that couture-house Boudicca and designer Emma Cook already resorted to his embroidery-designs.
About his designs, the Central Saint Martin´s graduate says “BECAUSE I am an embroiderer there’s always quite an element of craft in my work. Then, when it comes to putting it into fashion, it’s all about strong girls. Everything has quite big shoulders, and I like it”. (Source)
Craftsmanship and avant-garde design, Scott Ramsay Kyle definitely adresses the keen fashionista and not the wallflower. Personally, I am not really into the accentuated shoulder-thing but I totally fell in love with the colorful fringe dress shown above and i wonder how it feels to wear it.

Sibling bangs - barely two months old, the new bold and in-your-face men’s knitwear label leads the way. With luxurious materials, eye-catching designs and prices that make me dizzy, the three east-end designers Sid Bryan, Cozette McCreery and Joe Bates give knitwear for men a kick up the arse and subvert the classic knitwear styles in a playful and progressive way. With (for example) sequined Breton twinsets, beaded Leopard twinsets, a hand-embroidered Carousel pony head sweater the Sibling designs are totally avant-garde without producing a painful exerted impression.
Honor to whom honor is due - Sibling wow´s me away for today and I strongly recommend the interview with Bryan, McCreery and Bates, Hint Magazine published here.sibling-progressive-knitwear-menswear-london_12.jpgsibling-progressive-knitwear-menswear-london_88.jpg

Sandra Backlund and Lucas Nascimento - design analogies?

Can´t help - i just see some analogies in the sculptural knitwear by Sandra Backlund and Lucas Nascimento.
Both work with the female silhouette and create artistic, unique shapes that are built around the body like artpieces.

But still, huge difference is, that the grandmaster of knitwear: Sandra Backlund creates pieces that are more art than fashion…and the more edgy aspiring Knitwear designer Lucas Nascimento creates the fashion pieces that inherit a touch of art.

So for today, i leave it at that and consider this post as some kind of knitspiration.

Who´s that girl? – Mary Katrantzou is definitively an upcoming talent to keep in view

She opened the Central Saint Martin’s A/W 2008 show with a collection that featured trompe’oeil digital prints of oversized jewelry on bonded jersey dresses, creating the illusion of giant neckpieces that would be too heavy to wear. The collection also featured jewelry pieces made out of wood and metal, designed as exact replicas of her prints. mary-katrantzou14.jpgmary-katrantzou6.jpgHer collection won her Best Graduate at the London Fashion Awards. Equipped with the valuable insight that she gained by working for Sophia Kokosalaki and selling her samples to Bill Blass, she will continue developing her own distinctive style, alongside working on freelance projects. Her strength as a print designer lies in her use of digital printing and her interpretation of colour and symmetry in creating graphic prints with a hyper-realist aesthetic.
