Fenke Schwan isn´t only one of my favorite German fashion bloggers, she´s also the first one who commented on What´s Wrong With The Zoo one year ago. I was ecstatic.

But Fenke isn´t only an inspiring and passionated blogger, she´s also a great designer. Together with Alex Gabriel who she met during her studies at ArtEZ hogeschool voor de kunsten in The Netherlands, she founded the accessoires label Gabriel & Schwan in 2006.

So far, i thouht to be speechless, i must be dead. But since i saw the Wurstteppiche (translation: sausage rug) by Flachbild i am disabused. Coming in four versions: peperoni, blood sausage, ham sausage and mortadella – the rugs promise to bring “German Gemütlichkeit” into worldwide living rooms. Shop Windows are invitations.
Invitations to hold, to smirk, to wish and of course, to conductive buying decisions.
But since the vertical brands get the upper hand in city centers it´s really unusual that I feel invited. If it´s in Barcelona, London, Stockholm, Berlin or Paris – At Mango, Penélope und Mónica Cruz gape at me and at H&M it´s the always white-faceless dolls that bring (in a totally synchronized manner) their weekly changing trends like check, or gipsy or high waist-trends into towns. Meike Diedeling pimps your legs with her hand-printed stockings-collection. To be able to play with all kinds of forms and colors Designer Meike Diedeling prefers the silk-screen printing rather than the usual knitting process. Besides producing own collections, she also offers individual pieces for demanding clients. In this season, there´s no way to get around stockings and ankle socks and I am pretty sure that in the tepid summer nights Meike´s stockings will bedeck some girls legikins.
