No, no, no, it´s neither some extraterrestrial antennas nor self-defense-instruments with warning lights. It´s jewelry by Gualti - pieces that increased some hot discussions in the blogosphere. The designer himself describes his handmade creations as spectacular sculptures that evoke to live through light and movement. Critics are badmouthing the inexistent feasibility of the pieces. I guess, they didn´t get that it´s exactly the real-life unwearability that creates the valuable touch of the unachievable outstanding.
Gualti´s jewelry doesn´t get the right to exist in being compatible to my, to your to our styles and lives, it gets the right to exist with a uniqueness that can be found in the middle of fiction an reality. If the jewelry of Gualti should be worn by everyone - H&M would sell it. Basta!

With lassy fair i introduced a small German jewellery label that does wonderful laser cut-out jewellery - predominantly with fary tail motives. With Delicious Muovi the story continues. It´s a small label from Portugal that offers handcrafted pieces that are produced on demand. Although it´s plastic stuff i like some of the motives …and by the way, the price isn´t bad, too. Getting a handcrafted piece for only 14 € is even perfect for those who want to wear the necklaces for only one season.

Danish jewellery designer Vibe Harslof is known for her innovative and urban jewellery that gives strong references to the graffiti scene and graphic design tradition.
With the fafafa collection, she extends her earlier works and comes up with her familiar playful and distinct universe that brings us original pieces, design objects that are young, joyful and easy to wear, but at the same time - thanks to a touch of Skandivaian formalism - , have the potential to last.

For more than two thausend years, pergament is used to describe and to write about the world.
Berlin based goldsmith Ulrike Hamm pushed the level. Her goal is, to explore and to develop the not yet utilized possibilities of jewelry made out of pergament.
“Pergament is no cookie-cutter material that is delivered in standardized form. Pergament is balky, mysterious, vivid, precious and capricious … a material that needs to be perceived, conquered, developed. Inspired by it´s appearance and it´s characteristics I always divine new things that I want to trace.” This is how Ulrike Hamm describes her fascination for the unusual jewelry-material.hals_1.jpgarm_2.jpg

We are happy about her pioneering spirit - where else could we get butterfly-like jewelry for head and body? The only question I have is, if the beautiful pergament jewelry will survive one long party night….

Today it´s the 7 sins collection by London based artist Tina Lilienthal that makes my heart jump. Born in Germany, graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2003, she soon gained an international reputation with her unusual jewellery. Elements of storytelling, playfulness and humor play an important role in her work and her collections range from wearable jewellery to bold exhibition pieces. I can only say….i´m very attracted…tina-lilienthal-seven-sins-jewelry4.jpg2tina-lilienthal-seven-sins-jewelry3.jpg

Toujours Toi gives us some colorful rides

” When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride..” Lennon/McCartney

This is how Nina Egli - a Swiss artist, now living in New York - introduces her SS08 Helter Skelter collection. And with items like the “rainbow warrior necklace” and the “planet utopia necklace” she sends us on a feathery-colorful ride through a universe where princesses and magicians live on golden planets surrounded by pink-orange-green-yellow nu-rave solar-systems. For me, feathers are exactly NOT the thing that I wear around my neck…it´s just not fitting my style and my personality. But I am still a fan of Toujours Toi. It´s just…the collections “Animal Kingdom”, “Madonna Mia” or for example “Old School” are more after my fancy. For those who want to know more, check here.
