Fight the Dirt

14. December 2009 Art & Fashion, DIY & Customizing Judith

web_cabracega_coca-cola_biennale_make-household_not_war_750001As embarrassed I was when I realized that Coca-Cola Light did an Exhibition within the Experimenta Design Biennale`s Program, as tickled I was when I saw the hilarious household weapons. Those pieces have been created by the Cabracega Studio by re-inventing 2nd hand objects which have been collected during the Coca-Cola Light campaign.

They remind me on the glorious Umbrellas for the Civil but Discontent Man-collection and I bet, if there would be a laser-teaser included, domestic work would immediately become men`s favorite hobby. (more…)

Juxtaposed:Religion by Mike and Maaike

8. September 2009 Art & Fashion, Books & Magazines, Weekly Darlin Judith

juxtaposed-religion_mike-and-maaike_122juxtaposed-religion_mike-and-maaike_1If design could heal the world, Mike and Maaike, we already know from stolen jewels,  would be some saviours. The designer duo brought together the world´s most influential religious texts and presented them on the same level on one single bookshelf. There´s no better metaphore for acknowledging and celebrating the religious diversity we have on our planet instead of fighting others for the “wrong” set of beliefs. (more…)

Zoe Bradley – Dramatic Silhouettes

29. June 2009 Art & Fashion Judith

Craftsmanship combined with dramatic silhouette is the handwriting of sculptural artist Zoe Bradley.
After graduating from Middlesex University in 1997, Bradley went on to work with Alexander McQueen. Her wooden doily punched showpieces for SS1999 became iconic pieces, and time spent at McQueen reaffirmed in Bradley that her trademark would be to create spectacular silhouettes. (more…)

Mundi – The Guts of our Forefathers

7. March 2009 Designers & Labels Judith

It seems that in Guðmundur Hallgrímsson´s alias Mundi´s world, nothing is impossible and everything´s working out.
Either, the twen is equipped with the self-confidence of a 40 years old business man or it is the playful easyness that leads the young Icelander to creative and commercial masterstrokes. …well, it´s probably both.

Breathtaking – Anne Brenneke with “Life After Death”

30. October 2008 Art & Fashion, Weekly Darlin Judith

In opposite to fashion capitals such as Berlin, London and Paris, Hamburg has a very small fashion horizont.

While being supersaturated by T-Shirt printers and streetwear labels, there are unfortunately precious few in town who cause heartthrobs with their works, who are couraged enough for unconventional creative output and creative enough to choose the thrilling paths in the fashion design discipline… (more…)

Louis Vuitton – Cologne Shop Window Design for Damier Graphite Collection

8. September 2008 Shop Judith

Shop Windows are invitations.
Invitations to hold, to smirk, to wish and of course, to conductive buying decisions.
But since the vertical brands get the upper hand in city centers it´s really unusual that I feel invited. If it´s in Barcelona, London, Stockholm, Berlin or Paris – At Mango, Penélope und Mónica Cruz gape at me and at H&M it´s the always white-faceless dolls that bring (in a totally synchronized manner) their weekly changing trends like check, or gipsy or high waist-trends into towns. Snap and Dine

30. August 2008 Accessories & Jewelry Judith

Portable lunch setting by London-based product designer
Demelza Hill. “Snap and Dine is a single use three-course table setting that integrates disposable cutlery with traditional silverware. The portable lunch setting expands the possibilities of eating outdoors in style whilst reinforcing the correct use of cutlery, which has been lost over time. This is achieved through the decorative qualities and formal setting which both are a visual reference to fine dinning. This product is fun and interactive whilst raising the standards of current eating on the go habits.” (Text & Photos via Demelza Hill)
