An oldie but a true goldie is this Cleptomanicx cagoule which brings joy in the rainy days. When dry, it`s simply grey, but when the fabric is exposed to water, illustrations by Hamburg-based artist Stefan Marx become visible. I like, i like. (more…)
Eleven years ago, Bent Angelo Jensen started with a vintage suit rental service, today, he`s one of the most talented German tailors who raises eyebrows with mixing traditional cuts with modern class. Based in Hamburg, his label Herr von Eden dresses urban dandys, excentric bohemiens, artists and everyday guys who never have imagined to ever change their jeans-and-sweatshirt-look.
Finally, Mary Scherpe, the head behind Stil in Berlin, launches her own magazine. Celebration will take place Saturday in Berlin at Kim. More Info here. (more…)
Long overdue that Miguel aka Spanier, who`s the better half of me and photographer for many posts on What`s Wrong With The Zoo and Sounds Like Me, appears live and in color.
„It`s, looking for someone who has something to say“.
This came promptly and condensed. Even two weeks after I interviewed Diane Pernet for Two for Fashion, the answer on what makes fashion still amazing to her after all these years in the business, sticks in my head.
I don`t want to know how many times Diane Pernet had to answer this question. But what I definitely know now is, that there`s nothing wrong with passion for fashion, a dedication for blogging and the commitment to consider fashion a meaningful part of our culture. It doesn`t mean you necessarily are a random red carpet fashion chick.
While others might go for the bling and for the glam, Diane Pernet goes for content. And this attitude, combined with a clear sense for fashion and design probably makes her one of the most influential independent fashion bloggers in the world. (Read on after jump) (more…)
Sounds strange, but is true. Unlike other towns, Hamburg has no mentionale multibrand store for men. Gratefully, Yves Hanke now does the pioneer work with Boys Boys Boys, his new store with selected brands at Neuer Kamp 19. Official opening tomorrow. Tanzhalle Forever. Nothing more needs to be said. Last change to get a ticket today at Krug, Paul-Roosen Str. 35. (More after the jump) (more…)
“Cities without gays and rock bands are losing the economic development race”. US-economist Richard Florida stated, that cities only grow when a vital and active “creative class” exists and feels comfortable. If Florida is true, Hamburg is on the best way to become a dead town.
A dead town only likeable and livable for uncritical Disneylandish culture-consumers, for moneygrubbing estate-speculators and for those tasteless thinkers who consider branded-spaces sustainable, urban environment. HAMBURG HAS A PROBLEM. On Sounds like Me, i wrote more about this political dead-end situation and the riot of Hamburgs “creative class”. Read here and support there. Photo by Miguel. (more…)
