After a career in hairstyling for both fashion shows and magazines, (…) Soren Bach took up the challenge of an MA degree in millinery at the Royal College of Art.

Soren’s final collection is more like an adventure into the expressive world of cartoon and pop art, evoking a spirit of independence, individuality, and a complete creative understanding of colour, texture and form.  His creative approach stems from his respect and ingenuity working with luxury, natural fibres such as mink, horse and human hair combined with unique colouring and dyeing techniques to create a truly exuberant result of kaleidoscopic delight.

Wedding for hat´s sake

4. April 2008 Accessories & Jewelry Judith

fiona-bennett-wedding-hat.jpgfiona-bennett-wedding-hat2.jpg…this thought crossed my mind when i just acclaimed Fiona Bennets wedding collection. Among other things the modiste queen is famous for her crazy hat creations an her very prominent followings. Allowedly, as unexercised I am in wearing hats, some of her models would be the overkill for me. But her wedding-collection took my breath away. Dress…unimportant…with Fiona Bennett´s headwear every woman will look and pace queenly elegant. Mark down!

The next two pieces are also from the wedding collection, then, there are some pieces from the evening collection.

A hat is a message for the sky

When i just stumbled across that phrase, my heart humbled delighted. Susanne Schmidt seems to have a wonderful view on things. Even though I will probably never tinker my own hat it´s worth to present the “Schmitthut-kit” to all of those who would like to sent personal messages to the sky. The young hat designer developed a punch-out sheet that can be ordered here. The sheet is made from teaproof and water-repellent card web, can be converted to a hat and is ready to be painted, superscripted and printed. For the use of innovative, forward-looking materials the “Schmitthut-Kit” awarded the Design Plus Price from German Design Council. I´m sure…in future, we will hear a lot more about Susanne Schmitt.
