Art, costumes, design and animations, Jum Nakao channels his output into various directions, but often uses fashion as common denominator. Even when can be considered as”oldies”, these marvellous paper couture might be some of the most stunning artwork the Japanese-Brasilian artist came up with so far.

“A costura do invisivel”, which approximately could be transpated as “sewing the invisible” is a project, Jum Nakao created for the Paper-Fashion exhibiton at Moma. With incredible love for details, he created those amazing paper dresses which were torn down by the models during a presentation on a runway.

Fashion magazines and fashion blogs, TV and online networks massively inspire and affect our common sense of style, decipher fashion codes of different subcultures and influence our collective taste.

No matter if we like or not, the brotherhood of fashion and media is a strong one, vivid because of continuous cross-fertilizing and growing since online users actively contribute.

Movana Chen, a Hong Kong-based artist and curator, calls this strong relationship into question. Is fashion making media? Is media making fashion? Where are the borders of observation and interaction?

Russian creatives Ilya Plotnikov and Alexandra Zaharova, the heads behind the Studio Doberman, are famous for their extraordinary and high-class design work. Zoe Bradley – Dramatic Silhouettes

Craftsmanship combined with dramatic silhouette is the handwriting of sculptural artist Zoe Bradley.
After graduating from Middlesex University in 1997, Bradley went on to work with Alexander McQueen. Her wooden doily punched showpieces for SS1999 became iconic pieces, and time spent at McQueen reaffirmed in Bradley that her trademark would be to create spectacular silhouettes. (more…)
