Meet Vanessa Da Silva

Second, and also very considerable - it´s the unique and highly recognizable style signature that makes me go a little crazy over the collection that is “designed exclusively for no-one to celebrate the beauty of Hackney, East London” - delicate tailoring techniques meet embroidery, appliqué and staggering-imaginative graphic illustrations and lead into striking, eye-catching, highly fashionable but still relaxed t-shirts, tunics and vests. It´s very uncommon that I go for every single piece of a designer´s collection. With Vanessa da Silva´s pieces, I totally do.

Unfortunately, it wasn´t easy to find out how and where to buy Vanessa da Silva´s fashion online. London-based no-one online store sells some pieces. If you know other shopping directions- let me know.

potipoti is a collaboration between two designers, Silvia Salvador and Nando Cornejo, founded in 2005. Operating from Berlin potipoti creates fashion graphics and design, drawings, visual arts and product design.
Always open to team up with different artists, potipoti have collaborated with companies such as KTW (Jocomomola) and Mazda (Roaster MX5) as well as their latest project for General Optica. This explains, how the fantastic potipoti creatures do not only adorn clothing and accessories but also ramble around the world to enrich various products, publications and exhibitions with their fun-meets-creepy aesthetics.
The potipoti collection for Spring Summer 08, Lujo y Plastilina [Luxury and Plasticine], was conceived in a recent visit to NY where both designers created a collection that is all about cotton, colors and plasticine-made graphics.
Although i do not go for every collection piece i am honestly into the green cardigan for men and the green legging for woman. Besides, the photos are mentionable anyway - i really like the fresh attitude of the designer duo.

Non Stop Robot Disco

I spent weekend behind a bar. No…not drinking. Serving.
At least, I got some goooooood music by Zoot Woman, Kenna, Michael Mayer, Superpitcher, Shir Khan…but, to be honest…after the second 10 h shift on one weekend you really start to hate party people if you have to serve them J As longer the night, as harder the drugs, as more, the night turns into a freak show.

No. I don´t exclude me. After rotating drinks from dust till dawn, I don´t dare to stare in windows or mirrors. I always look like an after-party-zombie although I don´t drink n´drug.
Anyway….the Shirts and Sweaters by little label Me&Yu from UK fit the mood. With “Non Stop Robot Disco” and “Freak Show Disco” the two designers Angie and Gordon created the perfect slogans to underline my weekend bartendering-marathon.

Angie and Gordon, the two designers from Me&Yo, started in Australia in 2003 with their clothing line. It wasn´t a long termed planned business-step…it was a running-out-of-money-during-holiday situation. While traveling in Australia, the two tried to get some extra cash with creating and selling clothes on Bondi and Glebe markets. This little stall on Bondi market was the beginning of Me&Yu.
Three years later, Angie and Gordon quit their jobs and went into Me&Yu business fulltime. Not for the worse: With a Manchester store, the label soon attracted a cult following with celebrities such as Agyness Deyn, Noel Fielding (The Mighty Boosh), New Young Pony Club, and Joseph Gilgun (This is England) all seen wearing Me&Yu clothes.

Today, Me&Yo expanded the production facilities to a warehouse and a bespoke Boutique in Manchester’s upcoming Northern Quarter as well as gaining stockists throughout the UK and Europe.
The team growed, the brand growed, but all designs are still hand-made or hand-printed - this is, what makes the brand still personal, individual, unique and likeable.

Julie Cochard – winning the day with only one model?

If Julie Chochard´s bags are also next season hot topics is uncertain, for now, her first collection, -
one Canvas-Model in 4 different designs- is hyped by numerous Bloggers, Sellers and Buyers. It´s not really the freshest hottest shit - but still nice pieces. The bag-model is practically, but was unfortunately as often seen as the print-themes: pencil, smiley, sunglasses.

I am, curious about the next collection. Hope, it´s more cutting-edge. For those who want to polish their nu-rave outfits, here´s the link to Julie Cochard´s online-store.
