“This exhibition conceived by ATOPOS, constitutes a research result on paper clothing, a very widespread phenomenon in the United States at the end of the sixties, but little known by the general public. (…)Presenting various methods to use paper in the fashion of today, it shows design, art and publicity objects, as well as filmed fashion shows and recent creations by some of the most innovating fashion designers. Sandra Backlund – masterly knitted Last Breath Bruises

If it´s the knitted curiosities crafted by Donna Wilson and Vík Prjónsdóttir, soft flowing noble-creations from Louise Wahlgreen and Patafisic or the progressive knit-provocations by Sibling and cooperativedesigns – for me, knit is one of the most fascinating division in fashion design. As more designers I detect, as more excited I am, about the plurality of creations that come out of simple balls of wool.

Sandra Backlund and Lucas Nascimento – design analogies?

Can´t help – i just see some analogies in the sculptural knitwear by Sandra Backlund and Lucas Nascimento.
Both work with the female silhouette and create artistic, unique shapes that are built around the body like artpieces. (more…)
