When a graduate project becomes a sneaker brand it´s Flaek.  Sven and Oliver, two German media-design students aimed high when they came up with the idea to create nothing less than „the best sneaker. Ever“. While their fellow students hustle pixels on their monitors, the pals who consider themselves as sneaker-holics go for real stuff.

Being “neither product designers nor brand-strategists”, the Flaek-Duo faces quite a challenge with not only making the brand, but also, making the shoes. (more…)

Being a sincere fan of Sabrina Dehoff, i have to admit, that her “Sweet Surrender” show in the context of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin hasn´t had a big impact on me. It was about likeable, soft and floating clothes – highly wearable and beautiful, but without this unique emotional, technical or creative features that let the pieces differ from current zeitgeist-fashion.

But honestly – that doesn´t matter for me.  Sabrina Dehoff is an incredible talented jewelry designer who started not long ago to add some beautifully printed, simple dresses to her collection.

It would have been miraculous, if the Berlin-based designer would have come up with a clothing collection matching the level of her forward jewelry designs. (more…)

With the second try, the CLAE team finally gets what seemed impossible in the first round – to establish a small brand in the streetwear segment which is specialized in unobtrusive, high-quality sneakers.
Just when CLAE became one of my favorite sneakers brands back in 2004 the brand vanished completely – you can imagine how flabbergasted I was, when they came back last year after a 3 years break. (read on after jump) (more…)
