“Serious? Never. Fun? Always.” – Starstyling from Berlin
27. July 2008 Designers & Labels, T-Shirts & Hoodies

“Serious? Never. Fun? Always.” For 8 years now, Berlin-based label Starstyling proves how airy it can look when you take yourself not too serious. Katja Schlegel and Kai Seifried, the heads behind Starstyling, play so slickly critical, playful, ironic and humorous with the elements of contemporary fashion that their label soon transformed from an insider tip into an established brand.

For several years now, I track Starstyling´s development and I am happy to see that Katja Schlegel and Kai Seifried don´t rest on their laurels and on the simple concept “shirts with great prints”. Instead of, Starstyling moves on with progressive, holistic styles that might overstrain the mainstream-taste, but beat the pants of the mushrooming urban streetwear-labels through creativity, ingenuity and courage. “Serious? Never. Fun? Always.” – The concept works out. At least for Starstyling.

With DEVANDERVAR Colour is back!
29. May 2008 Designers & Labels, T-Shirts & Hoodies

The Copenhagen based label DEVANDERVAR was established in 2005 during the preparation of the two designers Sofie Edvard Nielsen and Tina Vanda Schou’s graduation show during the Copenhagen Fashion Fair. The name DEVANDERVAR is an anagram of the names Vanda and Edvard. A name that symbolizes their two personalities as a new unified whole.
DEVANDERVAR is high casual with one foot in tailoring and the other in street wear. Key words are strong colour combinations and contrasts, thoroughly placed lines with ornament reflections. The DEVANDERVAR collections are built with focus on their signature mosaic from which their new ideas arise creating new impressions.

on how beeing metallicly in love
14. May 2008 Accessories & Jewelry, Designers & Labels
uhhh…either it´s the sunny weather or it´s a temporary flirtatiousness….anyway, i´m in love with all kind of metallic tones.
Last week i bought 3 pairs of shoes that shimmer and glimmer.
VERY unfamiliar for me, usually i consider the blingbling accessoires as way too girly for me. Doesn´t matter – i have a new passion and here we go with my today´s metallic item: bag by maiden-art. Is looking great, isn´t it?

When Coco Chanel opened her first shop in 1913 in Paris, no one would have been thought that this woman would become one of the most influential designers of the 20th century, a role model for the industrially expanding world and a precursor for female independence....
Don´t worry, What´s Wrong With The Zoo isn´t going porn - instead, I have a look towards south. To Munich, Germany. In the midst of the Glockenbachviertel, the AMEN Store doesn´t only hawk unique mirroring but also cares about the good style. (read on)
