Regarding my friends who tie the knot, the big challenge seems not only to find the right partner, it´s also about finding the right dress. Some prefer the princess way with lots of frills and petticoats, others go for clean shapes, but they all have in common that they want to look insanely great.

Currently, in the German blogosphere we read about the best wedding gown designers, the do´s and don´ts in outfit and present choices and we get to know about what to think of when planning a wedding. To make it short: German bloggers are in the wedding fever and the Two for Fashion “Wedding” Blogcarnival is responsible for it.
Time for The Zoo to join and to entertain you with the 10 most extraordinary wedding dresses. Have fun.

In the context of the YSL retrospective in San Francisco´s De Young Museum, the handknitted cocoon dress, designed by Yves Saint Laurent, raised attention again and turned heads despite it´s age of 44 years.
With this gown the deceased master of fashion design did not only quote the last centuries art of needlework, he also created a stunning metaphore for what marriage meant for woman in the sixties.

Who would have thought that the key to a sophisticated dress might rest next to the bucket?
British artist Susie MacMurray presents a prime example of wedding dress artwork made of everyday objects. For an exhibition at New York City Museum of Art & Design she created this stunning dress out of 1400 rubber gloves.

Is it a Hitchcock reminescence or a proposition for uncombed brides?
Unfortunately i wasn´t able to find more information about the who, the when and the why in relation to the dress. But anyway, i couldn´t hide this hilarious find. (more…)

…this thought crossed my mind when i just acclaimed Fiona Bennet´s wedding collection. Among other things the modiste queen is famous for her crazy hat creations an her very prominent followings.
Allowedly, as unexercised I am in wearing hats, some of her models would be the overkill for me. But her wedding-collection took my breath away. Dress…unimportant…with Fiona Bennett´s headwear every woman will look and pace queenly elegant. Mark down! (more…)
