The Knit – Marie-Louise Vogt Summer´09
12. October 2008 Designers & Labels, Knitwear

Indisputably, Marie Louise Vogt is Hamburg´s knitting dolly number one. Lisa and Mary already showed the winter collection of the 28-old knitwear designer, I will have a look on what Marie Louise Vogt offers us for the next summer season.
Like in her previous collections, the handcraft- work is distinctive. New are the bright pastel-colors, pieces made of second-hand silk fabrics and – my favorites – oversized knit-braces as remarkable accessories.
Characteristic for Marie Louise Vogt´s work is the interplay of materials, volumes and colors, as well her non-interchangeable patchwork-style that emerges from Vogt´s unconventional method of operation during the phase of collection development. Instead of strictly following drafted sketches and designs – like many designers do- she puts the work and play with materials in the front. This process generates individual cut parts that later are composed into dresses, tops and accessories.

Next to Hui-Hui, MarieLouise Vogt is one of the most outstanding designers, Hamburg has to offer at the moment. We should more often have a glimpse in her direction. For those who want to read more about Marie-Louise Vogt, here and here you´ll find more words and pictures. For those who for buying instead of reading – Styleserver will bring you happieness.
