to be mongrels in common
23. April 2008 Designers & Labels

Since debuting at “Moet Chandon Fashion Award 2006″ things get ahead for Berlin based label mongrels in common. The men´s autumn/winter collection 2007/2008 won the Premium Designers Award at Premium Exhibition Berlin and MTV Designerama is hyping the summer collection 2008.
Not without reason. The men and woman fashion by designers Christine Pluess and Livia Ximénez Carrillo is both: elegant and smart, cool and sexy.
Guidelines for the process of development are always at least two antipodes. For the summer collection 2008 themes from Out of Africa and the Argentina gauchos have been transposed in a subtle, abstract way. Decent colors and materials as grey leather, white and pale yellow cotton meet bright yellow jersey. The collections characteristics are draped sleeves and pleated-front-trousers. Flowing silhouettes contrast with slender figure accentuating looks. Once again, a mongrels in common collection unites masculine seriousness with female delicacy.
Mogrels in common - as the name implies, has it´s unique „mongrelism” that is not only a guideline for every collection, but also the connective element in Livia Ximénez Carrillo´ and Christine Pluess´ friendship. The young designers met during their studies at private fashionschool ESMOD Berlin.
Their commonality: to be a crossbreed .
Their multicultural origin bridges Peru, Spain, Switzerland and Germany. Hence, it´s not surprising that the collections of mongrels in common balance in between cultures, époques and genders. Inimitably accomplished, mongrels in common mixes male and female elements with a huge potpourri of multicultural influences and styles.
Those who aren´t sure yet about summer styles that offer a variety of colors and styles, is always right in relying on mongrels in common. For private and for business life - the collection is all-purpose and can be combined very well. And besides, it´s always worth to spend money on a brilliant young designers piece….better than going to H&M.
