It´s inevitably – if you write about Makin Jan Ma, you have to write about his film career that is closely connected to his fashion collections. Why? Makin Jan Ma is creating collections for his film characters – this is (what he says) why the fashion lines are created. Strange? Strange. But anyway – this story goes with Makin Jan Ma´s fashion like Ground Zero with New York. 
And to be honest – I don´t really care if Makin Jan Ma is serious about a film career or is pretending to be only to stay a step away from the sometimes harsh and hard fashion industry. If fashion for film or film for fashion, Makin Jan Ma is a fantastic designer. From conservative to quirky, from clear cutting to playful printy – he´s in the know and with “You are my milky way” the Japanese London-based designer abducts us into the orbit. 
A wearable spaceshift and outer space prints are as well part of the collection as the already known peace checker motive.
Makin Jan Ma – a unique fashion designer who hopefully will equip many more “film characters” with his collections.
